Dr. Isaac is Professor of Medicine (University of Calgary), and a cardiologist with specialization in Advanced Heart Failure / Cardiac Transplantation and Echocardiography. She is the past Section Head, Division of Transplant Medicine and Medical Director of the Southern Alberta Transplant Program, and active in heart failure research and medical education.
She is the founder and co-director of the Guyana Program to Advance Cardiac Care, Guyana, South America: a global health program based on education of health care professionals to provide sustainable improvements in access to and provision of cardiac care in Guyana. Through this program she has developed, implemented and continues to manage the Guyana Echocardiography education program as well as pediatric cardiology services at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Through her global health work, she mentors undergraduate and graduate-level students in Global Health program development and research.
Over the years she has strived to be a role model and advocate for multidisciplinary and collaborative teamwork in the provision of accessible, equitable and sustainable cardiac care – both within Canada and in global health settings.
